About Us

In 1983 Jorge Schindler founded the Schindler travel agency based in Frankfurt. Only four years earlier he had emigrated from his native Chile to Germany for political reasons. Initially, the agency sold mainly flight tickets to Chilean and Latin American immigrants, but the idea to develop Chile as a tourist destination had been at the back of his head from the beginning. When finally, in 1990, the dictatorship in Chile came to an end after 17 years, many European people became interested in exploring the land beyond the Andes. Realising that no official Chilean tourist office existed in Europe, Jorge Schindler and his wife Gemita ? as native Chileans resident in Germany true specialists in this field ? decided to promote and establish Chile as a tourist destination.

In 2002 we renamed our agency CHILETOURISTIK and have gradually increased the radius of our operations to include other European countries, such as Austria and Switzerland. Today, more than 20 years of experience and success find wide recognition and are highly valued by many in the tourist trade, such as the Chilean embassies and consulates in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, who regularly request us to deal with enquiries that they are unable to answer or handle. In addition, we have a jointly developed, special contract with the Chilean airline LAN. We are extremely glad and proud of the fact that as Chileans, we utilise the enormous possibilities that our breath-taking country has to offer, not just as a travel agency, but primarily as a Chilean tourist information centre in Germany, and as such are contributing to the development of the tourism sector in Chile.

Jorge Schindler junior joined the team in 2005 and with a degree in tourism, ten years experience in the sector and excellent language skills (German, English and Spanish) he guarantees the future and progress of CHILETOURISTIK.
